At Reddal Hill, we take part in lots of musical activities! 

Richard from Rocksteady visits our school every Tuesday to teach the children how to be a rock star and Mr Brennan visits Year 3 every week to teach them how to play the ukulele. On a Thursday, we have our Singing Assembly where we sing altogether in the hall in our phase groups!

Ms Bye and Mrs Matthews visit us every Thursday to teach woodwind and brass lessons.

Also, Mrs Leach is hosting a singing after school club this year and is running the Young Voices trip this year!

Music Mark Award 2023/2024

 

On Thursday 11th April, we had a very special visitor in school, Tanya from SIPs Music and Arts service, who presented us with our Music Mark Award for this academic year.  We are very proud to have achieved this award again, in recognition of our positive approach to music education across the school.  Well done to all of our pupils who consistently prove to us how music has a positive impact upon their learning and wellbeing!

Rocksteady Spring Concert

 

On Thursday 14th March, our Rocksteady pupils once again wowed us with their musical talents.  It was fantastic to see your musical development this term and was such a treat for parents/carers, staff and Year 2 pupils to watch! Well done Reddal Hill Rocksteady bands, we are so proud of you!

Christmas Concerts

 

On Tuesday 12th and Thursday 14th December, our fantastic Rocksteady, woodwind and brass pupils performed for parents, carers and the whole of Year 2!  The performances were fantastic and really showcased all of your learning and hard work across the term.  We are all so proud of you! Well done!

 

Musician of the Month

2023-2024

Every month, we award the Musician of the Month trophy, badge and certificate to someone who has shown commitment, determination and love towards their musical learning. Congratulations to all of our fantastic musicians who have been chosen to be Musician of the Month!

                  

Young Voices

On Wednesday 24th January, years 4, 5 and 6 attended the Young Voices 2024 Concert at Resorts World Arena in Birmingham! Both staff and pupils had a wonderful evening singing and dancing along to all of the songs.  We were so proud of the pupils who performed each song brilliantly and with so much energy! Well done Young Voices choir!

Musician of the Month

2022-2023

Every month, we award the Musician of the Month trophy, badge and certificate to someone who has shown commitment, determination and love towards their musical learning. World Music Day

On Wednesday 21st June, the whole school celebrated World Music Day! Each year group focused on a different decade and listened to songs and completed activities linked to the most popular style of music during that time! Everyone had a brilliant afternoon: singing, dancing and creating masterpieces! Well done, Reddal Hill; what an amazing afternoon we all had! smiley

 

EYFS: 2000s

 

Year 1: 1990s

Year 2: 1980s

Year 3: 1960s

Year 4: 1950s

Year 4 listened to Rock Around the Clock by Billy Haley and His Comets and learnt a swing dance routine! Well done Hedwig and Potter; you were incredible dancers! smiley

 

Year 5: 1940s

Year 5 listened to Take the 'A' Train by Duke Ellington and painted beautiful train scenes! Well done Dumbledore and Hagrid; these are amazing! smiley

Year 6: 1970s

Year 6 listened to a range of ABBA songs, completed a wordsearch and created brilliant ABBA inspired artwork! Well done Snape and Luna; this artwork is brilliant! smiley

Easter Concerts

During the last week of spring 2, we hosted two amazing concerts for the parents. The children who participate in Rocksteady performed a brilliant rock concert and the children who are part of Mrs Matthews' band performed a fantastic wind concert!

Both concerts were absolutely amazing; well done everyone! smiley

Music Mark Award

Reddal Hill is extremely proud to announce that they have achieved the Music Mark Award for 2022-2023 again this year! Well done to all of the children who take part in musical activities at school! Congratulations everyone! smiley

Young Voices 2023

On Friday 13th January 2023, a choir of 28 children visited Resorts World Arena, Birmingham to perform in the biggest school choir in the world with Young Voices! The children practised the songs every week in an after school club with Mrs Leach and all performed like superstars at the concert! 

The children sang 'Proud' alongside Heather Small, beatboxed with The Beatbox Collective and danced with Urban Stride!

Well done everyone, it was an amazing experience; one you'll remember forever! smiley

Christmas at Reddal Hill

To celebrate Christmas we use our musical talents a lot at Reddal Hill! We performed lots of Christmas concerts throughout the last two weeks of term! 

A massive well done to all of our woodwind, brass and rock musicians; your Christmas concerts were absolutely amazing! 

The whole school also performed a Christmas Carol Concert on the playground. It was so lovely to see everyone singing and enjoying the festivities of Christmas! 

A small group of Year 6 children also visited Trinity House Care Home to perform a concert for them to spread the festive cheer. Your performance was incredible; I know they absolutely loved it!

Brass and Woodwind Concert

On Thursday 14th June, the children who play a brass or woodwind instrument hosted a concert in the hall. The children played a selection of solos and duets and also performed as a full wind band! It was absolutely amazing! All of the children are brilliant musicians and should be extremely proud of their musical talents.

Year 3 Ukulele Concert

On Monday 4th July, Year 3 hosted a Ukulele Concert! It was absolutely amazing! The children talked us through their musical learning and played a selection of songs. 

Well done, Year 3! You have had a brilliant year learning the ukulele! smiley

World Music Day 2022

On Tuesday 21st June, the whole school celebrated World Music Day! Each year group focussed on a country and genre of music. All of the children had a fun afternoon: listening to music, dancing, playing instruments, completing creative activities and colouring in a musical picture. 

Well done everyone; it was a brilliant day!

EYFS

In EYFS, the children learnt all about the Samba from Brazil. They made carnival masks and danced to Samba music!

 

Year 1

In Year 1, the children learnt all about Bhangra from India! They made hand drums and danced to Bhangra music!

 

Year 2

In Year 2, the children learnt all about Swing from the USA! They made shakers and sang 'Sing, Sing Sing'.

 

 

Year 3

In Year 3, the children learnt all about Reggae from Jamaica! They made rain sticks and sang 'Three Little Birds'. 

 

Year 4

In Year 4, the children learnt all about Mariachi from Mexico. They made maracas and sang 'La Cucuracha'.

 

Year 5

In Year 5, the children learnt all about Calypso from Trinidad and Tobago. They made steel drums and practised playing the drum beat alongside music!

 

Year 6

In Year 6, the children learnt all about Afrobeat from Nigeria. They made their own Djembe drum and learnt an Afrobeat dance routine!
