The Inclusion Support Team works to improve the education, learning, development, and mental health and well-being of children and young people in Sandwell, particularly focusing on those with special educational needs. Referrals to Inclusion Support are made through Mrs. K. Beard (Assistant Headteacher of EYFS and Inclusion).
Educational and Child Psychologist
The Educational and Child Psychologist (ECP) provides support, advice and recommendations to schools and families to enable them to provide a high level of support and advice to children with specialist educational needs. The ECP will also be involve with the statutory process when requesting an Educational Health Care Needs Assessment (EHCNA).
Learning Support Team
The Learning Support Team comprises Special Educational Needs Advisory Teachers for Learning (SENAT-L) including Specific Learning Difficulties (Dyslexia). They provide recommendations to support educational outcomes of children and young people based on observations within the classroom environment.
Behaviour Support Team
The Behaviour Support Team supports children and young people with emotional, social and mental health needs including those with behavioural difficulties. They provide recommendations to support educational outcomes of children and young people based on observations within the school environment.
Complex Communication and Autism Team
The Complex Communication and Autism Team (C-CAT) support schools to meet the needs of children with complex communication disorders and autism. They provide training tailored to individual needs, covering a wide variety of issues, topics and strategies relating to autism, and provide support and planning for transition.
Sensory Support Team
The Sensory Support Team consists of The Hearing Support Team and The Visual Support Team who provide additional support to children or young people with a hearing or visual impairment.
