Our Learning
Autumn Term
Year One
Year 1 will be completing a local study this half term and will be focussing on where they live. They will be exploring their local area, including the school. They will be using their map skills to explore the school and create their own maps!
Year Two
In the autumn term, Year 2 will be completing a local study based on Cradley Heath. They will be focussing on the Black Country and exploring the physical and human features that are around their local area.
Year Three
Year 3 will be learning all about Europe this half term. They will be researching different European countries, such as: Spain, Italy, Germany and France. I wonder what they will find out!
Year Four
In the autumn term, Year 4 will be learning all about deserts. They will find out where they are located, how they are used by humans and the features and formations that you would expect to see in a desert.
Year Five
Year 5 will be learning all about Fairtrade this half term. They will be learning about what life is like for cocoa farmers, the benefits of fairtrade and fairtrade products.
Year Six
This half term, Year 6 are going to be learning about a range of capital cities. They will find out about: London, Paris, Madrid, Brasilia and Washington D.C. They will be comparing the environmental regions and learning lots about each location!
Spring Term
Year One
This half term, Year 1 will be learning all about London. They will begin the topic by exploring the countries and capital cities in the United Kingdom. They will then be exploring the features of London and comparing it to Cradley Heath. We can't wait to see what they learn about!
Year Two
In the spring term, Year 2 will be learning about continents and oceans. They will focus specifically on the continent and ocean that we sit in. They will also learn about the climate of each continent. We can't wait to see what they find out!
Year Three
Year 3 will be learning all about mountains and rivers this half term. They will be finding out where rivers start and the role that the water cycle has in the journey of a river. They will then learn about mountains, how they are formed and even The Himalayas!
Year Four
This half term, Year 4 will be learning about earthquakes and volcanoes. They will start off by exploring what the earth is made up of. They will then learn about different volcanoes and what is inside a volcano. They will then learn about why earthquakes occur and how humans protect themselves from earthquakes. There will be lots of exciting learning this half term!
Year Five
Year 5 will be learning about maps and compasses this half term. They will learn how to read and interpret maps and symbols. They will then be exploring compasses and learning how to use one! We can't wait to see the geographical skills that they are going to develop!
Year Six
In the spring term, Year 6 will be learning about recycling; they will focus on the three R's - reduce, reuse and recycle. They will also be learning about plastic pollution, renewable energy and water conservation. We can't wait to find out what they learn about and see the what changes they make to protect our environment!
