Our Art and Design page

2025-2026

At Reddal Hill, we provide our children with a high quality Art and Design curriculum that encompasses influential artists and craft makers.  We aim to nurture creativity, self-expression, and a love for visual storytelling. Through hands-on projects and exploration, our students are inspired to think critically, collaborate, and celebrate their unique artistic voices.   This has been enhanced through the process of out Artsmark journey which has enabled us to review the impact of the arts on our children and staff.

Arts Ambassadors

We have recently created a new Art Ambassadors team and will be meeting really soon to discuss exciting ideas and opportunities to help promote creativity across the school. The children are looking forward to sharing their ideas, planning activities and helping to inspire others through art!

Nursery

In Nursery, we have had lots of fun taking part in different creative activities such as leaf rubbing, potato printing and collaging. The children have loved exploring different colours, textures and materials, and using their imaginations to create their own special pieces of art. We have also been learning about the artists Piet Mondrian and Jackson Pollock. We looked at how Mondrian used straight lines and bright colours, and the children had a go at making their own pictures in a similar style. We also explored how Jackson Pollock used lots of movement to drip and splatter paint, which the children really enjoyed getting messy with!

RECEPTION

Reception have created their own Guiseppe Arcimboldo inspired self portraits.  The children used mirrors to identify their skin colour, eye colour and hair colour.

The children used their arms and hands to print with to make Autumn trees.

YEAR 1

The children were introduced to the Artist Megan Coyle and explored how she uses colour, texture and layered shapes to create her work. Check out our photos of practising collaging using tissue paper. The children then designed and made a collage map of Old Hill, celebrating familiar places in the local area.

YEAR 2

Year 2 have been learning about the artist Stephen Wiltshire and have created their own sketches of buildings!

The children have enjoyed studying his techniques and experimenting with their own pieces, building up soft washes of colour before adding detailed shapes on top.

YEAR 5

Year 5 have been learning about the artist Angie Lewin and exploring her beautiful, nature-inspired artwork. The children created their own mono prints using lino-style polymer blocks.

YEAR 6
