Important Information

Uniform

The children in Zebra Class look so smart in their school uniform! Please ensure children wear black shoes at all times and if wearing earrings, that they are studs only.

We know how expensive they can be, so we kindly ask you to label all of your child's uniform to eliminate the risk of any items being lost.

The children are able to bring in a water bottle but please ensure this is ONLY WATER.

Snacks

We do provide children with milk/ water and a piece of fruit every day, but if you would prefer to provide your child with a healthy snack from home then please fruit only. Please ensure the fruit is cut correctly, e.g. grapes cut length ways into 4. If your child brings in a snack that is not fruit or not cut up then it will be held by the teacher and given back to you at the end of the session.

Reading

Every week, children in nursery will have the opportunity to choose a book to take home and share with an adult. Please look at the book with your child and talk about what is happening in the story.  Please record a comment in your child's reading record once you have read their story with them. smiley

Please could you also make sure that your child's book bag is at nursery everyday so that we are able to look at a book/listen to them read and change their books weekly.

Homework

Children will be sent home with a homework folder that will contain a piece of maths homework and a nursery rhyme to practice every Friday. This homework links to what the children have been learning that week and the nursery rhyme is the one the children will learn the following week. We also encourage children to practice tracing their names and will send a laminated card with their names on for them to do so when they start nursery. If you misplace this, please let one of the nursery staff know, and we will replace it for your child.

Homework Menu

In addition to this, a homework menu will be sent out each half-term with a variety of learning activities for your child to choose from.  The activities aim to compliment and consolidate learning that has taken place across the half-term.

To showcase this, we would love for you as parents/carers to send us images or videos of the children's learning. You can send these to us through Class Dojo by sending a private message to the class teacher. Simply take a photo or video and upload this to the app with a comment about your child's learning.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask a member of the Nursery staff.

Thank you for your support with this.

Summer

In the Summer term, our topics are 'Down on the farm' and 'Let's Go Outside'. At the start of the 'Down On The Farm' topic, children will have the opportunity to attend a farm trip and discuss the animals they see there. They will be identifying the animals that live on a farm and the different sounds they make. They will also be exploring baby animals and will be matching animals to their young. Through the topic of 'Let's Go Outside', the children will be learning about the features of a plant and will take part in planting opportunities.

Spring

In the Spring term, our topics are 'On the Move' and 'Little Explorers'. The children will discuss different professions and be given opportunities to develop an understanding of different methods of transport. Through the 'Little Explorers' topic, the children will explore the school and local environment, then explore a range of materials.
